Rest In Peace

We laid Grandpa Stan Gordon to rest today. Here are some highlights of the funeral.

Stanley Jay Gordon

1931-2009

Stanley Jay Gordon, age 77, passed away August 13, 2009. He was born October 30, 1931, in Lehi, UT and raised by his parents, John Thomas Gordon and Mary Luetta Miller Gordon, now deceased. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Stan is survived by his present wife, Emily Winona Gordon, his 3 children, Victor Jay Gordon, Wesley Keith Gordon, Carolyn (Burrows) LaTurner, their spouses and their 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and his brother Richard Martin Gordon of Denver, CO. Stan was preceded in death by his first wife LaVerne Powell Gordon who died of cancer in January of 1997.

Stan met and courted LaVerne Powell, who was from Bluebell, UT. They soon fell in love and married on June 19, 1950 and later were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1958. They had 3 beautiful children, two boys and one girl. They chose to raise their children in Lehi, a small farm town in UT, where Stan had been raised by his parents. Stan was an extremely hard worker. He often worked three jobs to provide for his family. He was in the National Guard as a mechanic for 38 years. He was also a fireman for the City of Lehi for 27 years and served as the Fire Chief for 4 years. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and travel, but his greatest love was his family. He was a great asset to his community, church and to all those who knew him.

After LaVerne’s death, Stan was introduced to Winona by his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Tony LaTurner. The two fell in love and were married in the Las Vegas Temple, December 6, 1997 for time and later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple on October 16, 2004 for eternity. The two spent most of their years together in service to the Lord. They served 4 missions: St. George Temple Visitors Center and Historic Sites, Washington D.C. Temple as Full Time Ordinance Workers, Service Mission at the MTC, and a Military Mission at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Stan had a passion for missionary work, temple work, and a love for the scriptures. His simple yet profound testimony was shared daily through his small acts of service. His kind, gentle nature endeared everyone to him. He opened his heart with love and acceptance for everyone he met.

Those of us who Stan has left behind, express our deepest love and gratitude to a husband, father, step-father, grandpa, brother, and friend for being the Christ like example that he was while here in this mortal life. His enduring faith, his gentle nature, his kind words, his out stretched hand…will never be forgotten.

Party Time

Yesterday was my 25th Birthday! Man how time flies. We decided to go to the zoo and hang out together as a family that day. Yes it was pretty hot but we got to see all the animals and be together. After the zoo Brett so kindly took me clothes shopping. So now I will look stylish. We spent the evening at my parents house playing Wii and having a BBQ. We also celebrated Nate going away to college. I have the best family!
Here are some pictures of our adventure yesterday.
Tori's favorite part was watching the Monkeys. Just look at the pure Joy on her face

Feeding the giraffe was a highlight for sure
hanging out in the petting zoo.
Right when we walked in a bunch of goats and a llama decided to greet us and started nibbling on us. Tori was not scared at all and wanted to pet everything.

Farewell JennyMae

My friend Jenny Mae has now moved to Fresno, CA. We had a little going away party for her a week ago and had some delicious mexican food. We finished the night off my watching so you think you can dance. I can't think of a better ending to a night than that. Girls only, food, dancing shows, can life get better? I submit that it cannot.
This is to all the memories we had JennyMae

She is the most photogenic person I have ever seen.
Never a bad picture. Even first thing in the morning or after swimming.

Sad Day
The castle was being rebuilt for the 50th anniversary.
I will never forget that 24 suicide disneyland trip.

Note: Her name is not actually Jenny Mae. I just knew so many Jenny's that we just added Mae to it. Real official name: Jenny Lange-Payne

Love Ya, Spanky the Polish Newt!

No one Mourns the Wicked

Show stopping number

I had the opportunity this past weekend to go and see Wicked the Musical at Gammage.
It was a fantastical musical. I went with my sister Jenny and her husband Shane and my parents.
Great set design, great costumes, great dancing, great songs!
If you ever have the chance to go I would highly recommend it.
It does make me wish that I was more talented though. : (

I give Wicked two big thumbs up.
Thanks for the memories!

keeps me entertained

Playing at the splash pad

It is amazing that Tori can keep me so entertained by not doing very much at all. I love this little girl so much.

I do have to apologize for my appalling appearance. I had just gone swimming and look awful. I promise I don't normally look like that. At least Tori is cute.

Special Thanks

I wanted to give a super special thanks to everyone who helped us move, paint, and get us into our house.
Special shout out to:
Vic and Joyce Gordon (the best in-laws a person could ask for).
They came down from Utah to help us paint, clean, lay tile, move, transported a moving van from Utah so we wouldn't have to rent one, bought and installed random necessities. I will be forever in debt to them.

John, Lilk, Nate, Scott, and Rachel
My family who came over everyday to help clean my house, watch Tori so I could paint, painted as well, moved my furniture over. My mother was a huge help in me moving so quickly.

Tyler and Kristin Feltner
Wonderful family as well. The helped us by lending us their vehicle to haul our stuff around, helped laid tile, and kept me entertained during the whole process.

Ron Jr.
Brett's Boss. Who came over an hour and half earlier then everyone else on moving day and helped us load up the trailer and brought his own trailer to fill as well. Thanks Ron. You're the best boss ever.

Tiffany Haynie:
Who drove all the way from Queen Creek to come and help me pack up my kitchen and move it over, even organized it for me and helped paint Tori's room.

Tami G:
My lovely relator who helped me find and get into my house.
Ryan H:
My finance guy who dealt with my annoying phone calls on a daily basis and got me a killer deal on a house. Thanks for putting up with me.

house projects

I've been quite busy decorating my new house and painting every single room, including trim and closets.
By popular demand I am now posting pictures of my progress. I will post many more soon as I finish the last touches on each room.
My house looks brand new now.
My nice Gordon Sign for my pot shelf.
This picture shows you just how big the sign actually is.
Drum roll please.....

I wish...

I wish Hogwarts and Harry Potter were real. Oh how I love the Harry Potter movies.
Nikki, Kristin, Austin, Jayden, Nate, and I went and saw the midnight showing of the Half-blood prince. No it was not crowded. Yes it was worth the lack of sleep today. Yes I dressed up. I am here to report that it is fantastic and everything I expected it to be.
Yes it was 2 hours and 45 minutes long but I wished it would have gone on longer.
I now can't wait until the next movie to come out. Thankfully I have read the next book and know how it ends.
To all the Harry Potter fans out there.... Long Live Harry Potter!!!

Only 4 short year ago we were first announced as Mr. & Mrs. Gordon
We have done a lot these last four years together. They have all been wonderful.
We have had a lot of change happen over the past four years. For example:
